Messy Church is a way for children and families to experience church outside of a Sunday Service. We usually run a regular Messy Church from our sister Church, St Mary’s Longframlington. It is usually on Sunday afternoons 3.30-5.30pm about once a month.
However during lockdown we have gone on-line so click here to go to our latest ‘Messy Church On-Line‘.
Here, everyone is welcome to come and do lots of fun crafts, have a story, songs and some tea or lunch. This is an all age gathering of people exploring faith in a very child friendly way.
During the school summer holidays we run a three day Holiday Club from Felton Primary School. A team of volunteers from St Michael’s go into the school where we welcome children from the local community. The days are jam-packed with lots of creative, fun and energetic activities which all relate to the topic or story and enable us to spend some time thinking about God.
Our Holiday Club in 2018 was called #SquadGoals and was based on the theme of being part of a team and include games, sports, quizzes, drama and craft – all set to stories from the Bible. It was for children in Reception to Year 6 with an older group for those in Year 7+.
During term times a team from St Michael’s go into Felton Primary School once a week on a Tuesday morning and run an ‘Open the Book’ assembly. The assembly has a short introduction, a dramatic retelling of a bible story, a pause for thought and a short prayer. The theme of the story often then forms the basis for other RE activities during the week. It is great fun and the children themselves take part, getting into costumes, and helping to retell the story. Here is the retelling of ‘The Last Supper.’ Others are very welcome to join the team so if you are interested speak to James or drop us an e-mail.
