Messy Church is a way for children and families to experience church outside of a Sunday Service. We usually run Messy Church on Sunday afternoons 3.30-5.00pm about once a month.  We publicise the dates via our Social media and website.

Our most recent Messy Church sessions were a fun pancake themed session looking at what Lent was all about and then an Easter session where we made our own ‘superhero’ egg characters, heard the Easter story and made our giant papier-mache boulder ready for the ‘Roll the Stone Away’ event on Easter morning.

Everyone is welcome to come and do lots of fun crafts, have a story, songs and share tea together. This is an all age gathering of people exploring faith in a very child friendly way.

Open the Book

During term times a team from St Michael’s had been going into Felton Primary School once a week on a Tuesday morning to run an ‘Open the Book’ assembly.  The assembly has a short introduction, a dramatic retelling of a bible story, a pause for thought and a short prayer.  The theme of the story often then forms the basis for other RE activities during the week. It is great fun and the children themselves take part, getting into costumes, and helping to retell the story.  Here is the retelling of ‘The Last Supper.’  The COVID pandemic has paused this activity but we hope to restart and others are very welcome to join the team so if you are interested do drop us an e-mail at info@stmichaelsfelton.co.uk.
